Mission to Mars

A memorable hands-on, minds-on science experience for students. Mission to Mars is a full day scenario-based program for Year 8 and 9.

  • All students work in Mission Control and as Astronauts, who communicate via audio-visual links.
  • Astronauts don spacesuits before stepping onto the Mars surface where they collect real soil, ice and rock samples.
  • Mission Control monitors the Astronauts' progress, as well as environmental conditions on Mars.
  • Students analyse their samples and data in VSSEC's Research Laboratory.
  • Supported by an on-line pre-mission project. Satisfies geology requirements for AusVELS Level 8 & 9.

    $100 deposit required to secure booking Cost: $35 plus GST per student (Victorian students), price on application for interstate and international schools.

2015/16 VSSEC NASA Australian Space Prize

VSSEC is proud to announce that Jessica Orr, of the University of Queensland, is the winner of the 2015/16 Space Prize. She is both the recipient of the Engineering Category prize and the overall prize.
