Reach for the Stars combines classroom work and hands-on activities to demonstrate energy transformations. It includes a pre-visit project for students and a half-day visit to VSSEC.
The pre-visist project, Energy and Motion, is available on-line and is self-directed, with videos and demonstrations, including energy transformations in a Wile E.Coyote cartoon.
Students record their work using foldables, an engaging and entertaining approach to project work.
At VSSEC students design, build and launch water rockets, tracking energy transformations during the launch, flight and landing.
For schools wishing to bring two classes for the day, this half day program can be combined with The Stars in Your Life to make a full day excursion.
