The Robotic Mission to Mars allows students to remotely control a real Rover on VSSEC's Mars surface.

  • Students undertake on-line site selection and pre-mission training before selecting roles as scientists and engineers in Mission Control, who must select the most appropriate route and compare the scientific value of the sites against the energy budget and available time.
  • Path finding software allows students to determine the best path while avoiding major obstacles.
  • This mission can be accessed remotely via the internet, or conducted as part of a full day program at VSSEC.

This program is a collaboration between VSSEC, The Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) at Sydney University, Monash University School of Geoscience and the ACRI Games Technology Lab at LaTrobe University.
