Using Technology in the Classroom: to be advised

Keynote Speaker:

Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL)

Teachers: Control the Parkes Radio Telescope!

The chance of a lifetime to observe pulsars.

 Parkesdusk _small

Learn how high school students use the 64m Parkes Radio Telescope in Australia to observe pulsars with Dr George Hobbs (CSIRO radio astronomer) & Rob Hollow (CSIRO education officer).  This is your chance to take control of this world class instrument.

Serious Games:

Investigate the use of serious games in the classroom and how they can be integrated into an effective lesson. Create and explore the Hertzsprung - Russell diagram using StarSearch. Use SeasonSearch and TimeSearch to discover the causes of the seasons and the history of ideas about the place of the Earth in the Universe. Tinker with Quantum Mechanics in Minecraft.

The IAF, in conjunction with International Space Education Board, invites teachers to register for this workshop. Plan for this workshop now—demand for places is expected to be very high, download the application form below and email it to Ian Christie.
