Pulse @ Parkes

This program is offered as a collaboration between CSIRO and VSSEC. As dates are planned in advanced, please submit an expression of interest.

PULSE@Parkes is a free educational program where your high school students use the CSIRO Parkes radio telescope, Murriyang, live and remotely to observe pulsars, analyse their data and interact with professional astronomers.

  • Pulsars are one of the most extreme astronomical objects. You’ll obtain your own data then use it to determine some of their properties and learn more about these intriguing objects.
  • CSIRO astrophysicists will share some career advice with you.
  • This program compliments VSSEC’s own Radio Astronomy: The Invisible Universe

The Parkes radio telescope is part of the Australia Telescope National Facility which is funded by the Australian Government for operation as a National Facility managed by CSIRO. We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people as the traditional owners of the Observatory site.
